ALL NEW 'ROCK BAND ACADEMY' 2008-2009

STILL ACCEPTING STUDENTS - ESPECIALLLY IF YOU ARE A BASS PLAYER!
This course started Sept. 6
OVERVIEW
Music Lab has an exclusive license for this exciting curriculum from ACM in London, World Leaders in Music Industry Education.
This fun progam is split between the teaching studios & the performance / practice rooms. Students learn the skills required to perform popular songs in a band consisting of guitars, bass, (sometimes vocals) & drums (provided). The focus is on musicianship & students study practical live performance techniques with pro musicians in a supportive environment. The course culminates in a concert where the students get to show off what they have learned.
Students will spend their 28 weeks working with their tutors on how to get the most from their playing, performance and
communication skills, how to play the right parts for every song and how to own the stage! On top of this, students will write & record original material in our studio. ‘Rock Band Academy’ offers an introduction to the music industry and the bands experience what it is like to work with a producer. The tutors are here with one aim; to help and support all students in their growth as musicians and artists.

FAQ's
1) How do I know if RBA is too advanced?
This program is for students who are confident and comfortable with their instrument already. We will happily set up a consultation with the course director and show you around our facility. This will help us determine if it's the right program for you. If it is too advanced, we have an afterschool program called Rock Band 101 for 10-13 year olds that would be perfect. Or if you're 13+. our Beginners Labs or our Learners Labs will be perfect also.
2) Can I do RBA on Acoustic Guitar?
Yes. But you must have a pick up installed in order to participate. We recommend Butch's Guitar & Repair in the Creamery, SLO. Call 805 782 9419.
3) Do I need an amp and cables and all that stuff with me every week?
No. All you need is your guitar, a strap, spare strings and guitar picks. A tuner is highly recommended. You can buy all those things here.
4) What if I miss sessions?
In 28 weeks it is likely you may have to miss a session. There are no free make-ups for RBA but you can at any time schedule an additional tutorial with one of the instructors.
5) This sounds like fun but will there be solid learning objectives and tangible improvement through the year?
Absolutely. Music Lab is the place to come if you're SERIOUS about Music and becoming a better musician / guitar player. We love this curriulum that we're licensing and the way it builds through the year.
